HELLO FRIEND
My name is Haldis and I create real stories for real families, like yours. I was named after my Bestemor (grandma in Norwegian). How on earth do you pronounce that? HALL-DISS like you are walking down a hall dissing people. I get it, my name is hard. So if we ever meet, and you butcher it, it’s totally fine. I’m a mom. nerd. filmmaker and photographer. Nothing would make me happier than sitting criss-cross applesauce next to your bathroom sink, listening to 90's hip-hop or country (@spaceykasey is my fav), while helping you get ready every day.
I'm passionate about making pretty things and ...I'm great at what I do! Documenting life's little (and big) moments are what it's all about.
Why Butternut Blonde?
Simply put, my full name is super tough to say, spell and remember. My husband calls me Butternut all the time and I’m blonde so when it came time to find a business name, I just threw the two together and loved how it sounded. I know, super boring.
Films and Pictures are memories. As a girl with two grandmas who struggled with memory loss, it's more important than ever that I document every little detail.
I want you to look back at this time in your life and remember everything. The smell of the trees, the way your partner looked at you, or that slight curl on the back of your baby's head.
Hopefully, you will have so much fun documenting the first journey, you'll want me with you every step of the way. I hope we grow old together on a beautiful front porch in rocking chairs with my camera pointed at our basset hound.

THIS IS US
Yup, that’s me in my wedding dress with my husband Reed playing ice hockey on our wedding day in 2009. We were surrounded by 75 of our closest family and friends. We asked the photographer to get images of our rings on Nintendo controllers, and I walked down the aisle to a Final Fantasy theme song. I will forever maintain that our anniversary date is in 2002 (our first date). SEVEN years before this photo was taken.
Then came the babies. Gunnar and Josafina (Fina). Yes, they are full of fire and just as spicy as their mama. Thankfully, Dragons LOVE Tacos.
